ESRB rating: T (13+) | Cabined Accounts: under 13

What are Cabined Accounts?

Epic Games created "Cabined Accounts" for players under 13 (or the age of digital consent in their country). These accounts have social features and purchases disabled by default until a parent provides explicit consent. Players with Cabined Accounts can still play Fortnite, Rocket League, and Fall Guys with full access to content they have already purchased or earned.

Setup

  1. If your child is under 13, their account will automatically be a Cabined Account.
  2. Epic will email the parent/guardian to grant or deny consent for specific features.
  3. Access parental controls at epicgames.com/account/parental-controls.
  4. Set a 6-digit PIN to protect the settings.
  5. Configure permissions for voice chat, text chat, purchases, and content individually.

What Cabined Accounts restrict

Spending controls

For children under 13, a daily spending limit of $100 is applied automatically. Any purchases above that limit require a parent's PIN to complete. You can set a lower limit or disable purchases entirely from the parental controls page.

What's new in 2025–2026

Epic improved PIN recovery with 2-step verification for extra security in 2026. Fortnite gift cards can now be added to Epic account balance. The parental controls system is unified across all Epic games (Fortnite, Rocket League, Fall Guys), so settings apply everywhere.

Warning signs to watch for

Tip: Do not grant parental consent until you have reviewed each permission individually. You can grant access gradually as your child demonstrates responsible use.
